Clean Eating 101

So this is important --> Remember, its ONE DAY AT A TIME. If you look at how far you have to go or think 'oh my gosh I have to do this FOREVER, you've already lost. Think about today and today only. Make good choices right now and eventually all of those good choices will build up to pounds lost on the scale, jeans feeling loser or buttoning, and an overall lighter you in body and spirit.

Now for the good stuff!
July Fourth themed water flavoring.
HAVE FUN with it!

1. Drink water!

Lots of water... just when you think you've had enough...drink more. How much? 1/2 your body weight in ounces. So, you weigh 200 pounds, that's 100 ounces of water for you. Yes, it will feel like a lot, but I'll tell you...this is the most important aspect of your plan. Drinking your daily consumption will make your skin
glow, keep your body hydrated and functioning at full capacity and your energy will start to pick up. Most importantly, it will help you decipher between those hungry cravings as a lot of times we confuse hunger for thirst. This was my LIFE CHANGER! Once I started drinking water consistently, my cravings subsided drastically.

If you're having trouble getting it down, try some flavored water. Add lemons, basil, mint, strawberries, pinneapple, oranges. The options are limitless (and YUMMY).

2. Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day.

Every 2-3 hours you should be grabbing a snack or meal. This will help your body stay out of starvation
mode and in fat-burning mode. Which is right where we want it to be. YES, you will be surprised and feel like you are eating A LOT of food, but this is what your body needs to thrive. Plus, we all love to eat right?! I DO! Eat the right foods often and you'll be right on track.

3. Eat whole foods.

If it has more than 5 ingredients... it's processed...it's a no. If you can't pronounce an ingredient...it's processed...it's a no. It's super important to know what you are eating and hopefully where it came from. The more whole foods the better. We're talking, vegetables, grains, beans, fruits. Foods that you can recognize can picture in its original form. Combine these into a meal and you are right on track.

Throw out that junk. It's only going to derail you. I've always said, its not that I have willpower.. because I absolutely don't. I eat healthy, because its the only thing I put in my house. If there is a bag of chips... I guarantee you...my munching fingers will be a grabbing. So, first things first, purge your fridge, pantry and all of those hiding spots. Set yourself up for SUCCESS!!!

No thinking necessary.
4. Meal Plan your Weeks.

Meal planning is what ensures me to stay on track and also within budget. Sunday is my meal planning day.

I make a calendar of the week, list out my meals and snacks and head to the store. For about two hours I chop all of the veggies and cook all of my meals. I'll tell you, its a big mental task to get into, but it completely saves you throughout the week. Email or message me for help with this as I have templates and meal plans already set for you to sample. It's seriously makes the difference between having a GREAT week or an okay week.

Those are the four simple steps that you'll need for success. Please reach out to me on any questions you might have! I am so happy to help. Facebook me here!

Happy Clean Eating!
